Á Milli/The moment between (2026)
A solo show by Deepa R. Iyengar in Á milli space, Reykjavík, Iceland.

We experience and repress moments of cognitive dissonance again and again. Our beliefs about how the world works are simplifications of a larger picture; so it is easy for them to be violated. It is a moment which is as painful in our bodies as in our minds. We can’t see anything but ourselves as we struggle with what we believe about the world and, ultimately, who we are.
Á milli, the name of the venue, means between, and this between space became the moment between what comes before and what changes after.
With thanks to Dorota Kozłowska (sculpture), Iago Benitez Hernandez and Tobias (models), Réza Kalfane (projection mapping), Ragnar Már Nikulásson (programming), Odda Júlía Snorradóttir, and Hannes Högni Vilhjálmsson.
I worked on the technical solution (Raspberry Pi units, video projectors, mapping software), on the installation, and prepared files for projection and video mapping onto the sculpture.
